Hack01: Hack the Edge. Take the Dare.
Liquid AI’s first hackathon, Hack01, was built around a challenge: Hack the Edge. Take the Dare. We invited developers to go beyond cloud APIs and prove what’s possible when AI runs fully on-device. The results weren’t just clever demos. They were a glimpse into a new category of applications that only work when intelligence is private, fast, and resilient.
A Theme That Stood Apart
Hack01 wasn’t about chasing benchmarks or scaling up GPUs. It was about proving that the next breakthroughs happen at the edge. While most of the industry is still focused on massive cloud models, Hack01 showed the opposite path: efficient foundation models built for real-world deployment on devices, not servers.
This theme stood out because there are so few places developers can experiment in this space. Liquid is pioneering here, and Hack01 participants proved why edge-native applications matter.
The Winners
Judges’ Choice: Liquid Lexify by @polodarb
Lexify is a 100% local AI writing and grammar assistant that works entirely on your device.
- Invoked anywhere on your phone, not locked inside one app
- Privacy by design: your notes never leave your hardware
- Instant results with zero latency
Lexify embodied the Hack01 dare: put control back in the user’s hands. After winning, its creator, Danyil Kobzar, put his prize toward his first MacBook to accelerate future builds — investing back into the edge.
Audience Choice: Knight Night by @rozeappletree
Knight Night is a screen-time tool that helps users break free from doomscrolling.
- Provides a holistic view of usage across apps
- Built to change habits, not just track them
- Designed with a privacy-first approach — no third-party data sharing
Knight Night proved that digital wellbeing tools can be reimagined when powered by on-device AI.
